Samhain Community Ritual

October 31st, 2021 - exchange $44

the details

Samhain, Dia de los Muertos, All Hallows Eve, Halloween, many names for the same time of year marked to celebrate and honor the dead. These celebrations are some of the many rites around the world that feed the spirits of our passed loved ones and ancestors, some believing so they are fed throughout the following year. On this night not only is the veil between the living and the dead believed to be thinnest, making connection easier, it also marks the end to the harvest season and in some traditions the witch’s new year. Though we have a consistent ancestral veneration practice throughout the year, there is a specialness about Halloween, the lifetimes of witches within us can feel it, and our guess is you can feel it too.

We welcomed all who wished to join, whether they had their own ancestral veneration practices, were looking to develop a connection with passed loved ones and ancestors, or were new to magic.

what was included:

  • an altar fed with drink, food, herbs, spices, flowers, offerings, and candle magic on behalf of the community

  • guidance on creating a personal ancestor altar for the ritual

  • co-created sacred container

  • 2 prayer ties for each of participant, blessed with submitted personal prayers for the dead and the living/yourself, released in ritual to the flames for the spirits to carry over

  • channeled group journey to dance with the dead

  • song, dance, celebration, and libation

Thank you to all who joined us in a virtual night of respectful ritual, joyful celebration, and a bit of magic in honor of the dead and living for Samhain!
